About this study guide

Turkish can look unfamiliar at first, yet its rules are remarkably regular once you see the pattern behind them. This material starts with the Latin-based Turkish alphabet, explaining each letter and its sound in plain English, then moves on to greetings, numbers, days of the week and the words you need for shopping, travel and polite conversation.

From there, the guide introduces vowel harmony and the way Turkish adds suffixes to a word to express plurals, possession, location and tense. Every point comes with example sentences and a brief note on how to use it, so you can read, write out and say new phrases on your own.

    A good fit for learners who can already read Turkish and handle basic greetings but want to move beyond set phrases. Choose this level if you would like to understand how suffixes stack together and start describing your day, your plans and your surroundings.

  • What you will be able to apply

    You will be able to ask and answer everyday questions in Turkish, say where things are and where you are going, talk about what happened yesterday and what you are doing now, and recognise common mistakes with suffix order before they become habits.

    Intended for learners with solid Turkish foundations who can manage daily conversation yet notice that longer sentences still slip away from them. This stage suits anyone ready to tackle participles, subordinate clauses and the subtler shades of meaning Turkish expresses through its endings.

  • What you will be able to apply

    By the end of this stage you should feel ready to read short Turkish articles, follow the logic of long agglutinated words by breaking them into parts, and express opinions, conditions and second-hand information with noticeably greater precision.
